The Venue Protocol Cluster Manager is a rewarding, stimulating and diverse role within Birmingham 2022's Games Family Services (GFS) Functional Area (FA). Responsibilities

  • Support various projects within the Games Family Relations and Protocol department as required.
  • Help plan and deliver the Birmingham 2022 Venue Protocol function across certain Venues, including delivery of Games Family seating and lounges, and support of flag protocols, national anthem protocols, medal presenter coordination.
  • Develop relevant policies and procedures in support of services and operations to be delivered by the Protocol Team.
  • Implement operational plans, policies and procedures for the Protocol team in all competition and non-competition venue planning processes.
  • Support Venue Management planning to ensure an appropriate level of service is provided to the Commonwealth Games Family client group.
  • Act as Birmingham 2022's representative on all Venue protocol related matters.
  • Support the GFS FA in the operational planning and event support in the delivery of official meetings conducted in Birmingham (both in person and virtually) e.g. General Assembly or Chefs de Mission Seminar.
  • Support the appropriate stakeholders in the planning and delivery of the Birmingham 2022 Opening and Closing ceremonies, ensuring the interests of the Commonwealth Games Family are represented.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Experience planning and conducting high profile events, visits, and hospitality functions for domestic and international dignitaries.
  • Confident in dealing with dignitaries and VIPs at such events.
  • Experience managing relationships with various government and diplomatic organisations.
  • A sound working knowledge of managing a largely volunteer and contract workforce.
  • Consistently demonstrates cultural awareness and international outlook.
  • Recent experience of working in an international environment.

Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum

Contract: Fixed Term Contract
