The Queen's Baton Relay (QBR) is a prestigious part of the Commonwealth Games in which the Tour Event Manager will play a major part in delivering. You will manage and support the Tour Services team responsible for the scheduling and management of all the travel and accommodation logistics, Guest programme and Covid-19 rescheduling surrounding the UK elements of the relay.

Additional responsibilities will include, but not limited to, supporting senior management cross-functions for the International Section of the relay; ensuring all travel and accommodation requirements are delivered. As Tour Event Manager you will report directly to the Senior Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Queen's Baton Relay Travel Management Company to manage all Staff, Security and Volunteer accommodation requirements for the UK wide Queen's Baton Relay;
  • Support the Head of the Queen's Baton Relay to design and manage the Guest programme, with transport and other requirements for each guest joining the Relay;
  • Working closely with the Batonbearer Operations team to support with requirements for Batonbearer Collection Points;
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders like West Midlands Police and local authorities providing support and required details where needed;
  • Support on the delivery of pre and during relay time welfare operation for staff including planning of team events and activities;
  • Work closely with the Route Event Managers to ensure all accommodation is in appropriate locations;
  • Work with the Convoy and Logistics Manager to ensure all staff and volunteer travel is booked and managed, and that all accommodation has all the required facilities.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Full UK driving license with no more than 6 points;
  • Knowledge of UK geographical layout and its cities and towns;
  • Strong events & logistics background and proven experience of planning and delivering similar touring type events;
  • Writing and research skills, demonstrating the ability to prepare clear, concise oral and written reports and briefings;
  • Proven experience of managing a mobile event office;
  • Ability to build relationships, with speed and credibility, with people at all levels (internal and external);
  • Proven ability to manage multi-faceted projects through to completion.

Desirable

  • A degree level education or equivalent professional qualification;
  • Proven working knowledge of the UK accommodation sector;
  • Previous experience in risk mitigation particularly relating to events;
  • Proven problem-solving skills.

Location: This role is based in Birmingham, England, and requires the successful candidate to be office based full-time

Salary: upto £35,000 per annum
