The Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 is looking for a Road Events Service Manager. The Road Events Service Manager, will work alongside the Sport Competition Managers and Assistant Sport Competition Managers at the Cycling - Road, Athletics - Marathon and Triathlon & Para Triathlon events at the Commonwealth Games. It will be your responsibility to recruit, train and deploy a team of volunteers for all of the Road events at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games

Responsibilities:

  • Manage correspondence and communication with the Sport Specific Volunteers in partnership with the Games Workforce Department
  • Work with the Sport Competition Managers and Assistant Sport Competition Managers to recruit, train and deploy the Sport Specific Volunteers so that tasks are allocated to appropriately skilled individuals
  • Rostering of Sport Specific Volunteers synergising where possible across three sports - Cycling - Road, Triathlon & Para Triathlon and Athletics - Marathon
  • Manage the development and delivery of role specific training for Sport Specific volunteers
  • Foster relationships and maintain communication with the relevant Sport Competition Managers and the Games Workforce Department
  • Establish, manage and deliver relevant Sport Specific Volunteer milestones, project plans and related reporting, in line with the Games-wide project plan.
  • Contribute to the Sport Competition functional areas documentation for the Transfer of Knowledge to future Commonwealth Games Organising Committees

Responsibilities of the role will evolve during the lifespan of the Organising Committee and it is likely that the role profile will evolve with the changing needs of the Organising Committee.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Experience in the recruitment, training and management of volunteers
  • Experience of making logistical arrangements and producing supporting documentation
  • Knowledge of sport competition, event management, operations or logistics at a national and international level

Salary: £35,000 per annum

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Permanent

Location: One Brindley Place, Birmingham (office-based)
