UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK is a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of creativity taking place across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and online from March to October 2022. We're lifting the lid on 10 awe inspiring new ideas, shaped across science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics by brilliant minds working in unexpected collaborations. Unmissable events and unforgettable experiences are coming to places and spaces right across the UK: from coastal towns and city centres to breathtaking areas of natural beauty.

UNBOXED is looking for an experienced, highly organised and creative Festival Producer with a proven record of working in a cultural/STEAM organisation or festival context and with a good understanding of large-scale cultural events production. You will support the delivery of 10 ground-breaking new commissions with the ambition of reaching millions; bringing people together and promoting the UK's creativity to the world. You will be supporting with the operational planning and delivery of assigned project activity, working cross-sector, cross-nation and across multi-stakeholders, demonstrating exceptional project management, financial and budgeting skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and operational delivery of the Creative Programme for UNBOXED; supporting the programme team to bring together organisations and individuals from across Festival sectors (arts, culture, design, science, engineering, maths, heritage and technology) in the form of ten major commissions;
  • Support the Senior Producers to undertake assigned project management activity including, supporting the financial, logistical, operational and creative oversight of the commissions;
  • Work as part of the creative programming team to deliver diverse prospective projects, programme strands and ideas across multiple artforms;
  • Work across the four nations of the UK on the development and delivery of activity;
  • Develop, monitor and report on progress against milestones and project timelines;
  • Review project plans and monitor budgets;
  • Champion representation, accessibility and inclusion across the Producing Process;
  • Working as part of the wider team, shape the overall vision and direction of UNBOXED as a nationwide celebration of creativity and innovation that will reach millions.

Skills and Experience Required:

Essential

  • Fluent in spoken and written English;
  • Proven working experience producing projects, events, commissions, co-productions and/or cultural/STEAM programmes;
  • Understanding of multi-partner collaboration and delivery;
  • Knowledge of artistic commissioning processes;
  • Working knowledge of multiple parts of production, delivery and audience development;
  • Experience in budget management;
  • Experience of relationship management.

Desirable

  • Experience of working on high-profile public and creative programmes;
  • Presentation, report writing and public speaking ability;
  • Experience of working on public engagement projects with schools and communities.


Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Fixed Term Contract until the end of 2022

Salary: circa £36,000 per annum

Location: 6 Brindley Place, Birmingham, B1 2JB (Full-time, office-based)
