As part of the Commonwealth Games, the Birmingham 2022 Cultural Programme is looking for a Marketing Manager to deliver and implement one of the UK's most ambitious, collaborative, and inclusive campaigns in a generation. We want to engage c2.5million people in artistic cultural activities across the region and beyond.

Reporting directly to the Lead Marketing Manager, you will work as part of our dynamic Media & Marketing team and alongside the Culture team to ensure we achieve audiences who are representative of the West Midlands, reaching new people and helping us shine a light on the region's incredible creative life. You will be experienced and enthused about digital marketing channels, with experience of commissioning and capturing content to help communicate the festival and its impact.

As part of a small team who are passionate about arts and engagement, you will work with external and internal partners to deliver detailed and timely campaign plans ensuring they are properly resourced, within budget and closely monitored. Ideally with experience in the Cultural sector you will ensure that diversity and inclusion be at the heart of the Cultural Programme's marketing and communications.

Responsibilities

  • Engage audiences across a wide target market but with a particular focus on our priority groups; Children and young people, d/Deaf and disabled people, people from ethnically diverse backgrounds, people and communities that benefit least from cultural investment
  • Work closely with external creative agencies, producing audience-centric briefs and managing resource allocations to deliver value-for-money campaigns
  • Work with the Games' Digital Marketing team and artists/organisations to create digital content for social media: writing briefs for agencies and ensuring effective and efficient delivery of assets
  • Work with the relevant agencies to procure advertising across print, digital and Out-of-Home networks which help deliver maximum engagement and impact for our audiences
  • Co-ordinate with agencies, freelancers and partners to build narratives to reflect the ambition, range and diversity of the programme and relevance to different audiences, locally, nationally, and internationally
  • Advise senior decision-makers on progress and priorities, reporting performance against key milestones.

Skills and Experience Required

Essential

  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Experience of working in marketing and communications in the arts and cultural sector
  • Relevant professional experience from a strategic role in a marketing, digital and/or communications function
  • Experience of working on high-profile campaigns
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills including the ability to write for different target groups over varied formats
  • Experienced in commissioning and generating digital content as part of an audience development strategy
  • Strong budget management skills and financial literacy
  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Birmingham and the wider region
  • knowledge of the local cultural and creative industries
  • Experience of delivering effective campaigns in one or more of the following specialisms: community arts, children and young people, Families, D/deaf and disability.

Location: Birmingham, UK office-based/full-time

Proposed Start Date: ASAP

Salary: £35,000 to £38,000 per annum
