Deputy Venue Logistics Manager

Birmingham 2022 is looking for dedicated and confident Deputy Venue Logistics Managers to help support the team. The Logistics Functional Area is responsible for identifying, scoping, storing, delivering, recovering, and disposing of the materials required to stage the Games.


This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to support on what will be nothing short of a memorable global sporting event. Some of the responsibilities for this role include the planning, implementation and delivery of venue logistics operations at a specific competition or non-competition venue amongst other things.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planning and implementing Logistics operational plans for allocated venue/s within time critical deadlines
  • Provide logistics advice and support to Functional Areas (FA's), staff, external suppliers and contractors, as required
  • Assist with asset tracking (including Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E)), distribution in venue, setup/breakdown of spaces and return materials post event
  • Assist with the management of on venue deliveries, resources, fuel and vehicles
  • Assist with the management of the Master Delivery Schedule (MDS) on venue, in coordination with relevant FA's
  • Attend venue management daily briefings as a LOG representative, when required, ensuring smooth and seamless back-of-house operations at an assigned venue
  • Assist maintaining up to date and accurate records, documentation, and complete daily reports
  • Solve problems and make critical decisions independently without supervision
  • Assist with the management, motivation, training and support of logistics contractors and present at logistics team daily briefings
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area on venue and ensure all Health & Safety standards, policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Work closely with the Logistics Coordination Centre to operate the logistics services at venues appropriately, consistently and in line with the overarching strategic plan.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Attention to detail, excellent time management, interpersonal, oral, written, presentation and communication skills
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and ability to learn and operate online systems
  • Strong organisational skills in planning and the ability to coordinate resources
  • Highly resilient and able to work calmly when under pressure to meet immovable deadlines in challenging circumstances and to go the extra mile
  • Hold a valid, full UK manual driving licence
  • Right to Work in the UK.


Desirable

  • Relevant event management and/or logistics qualifications
  • Forklift licence
  • Knowledge of event logistics and management
