Birmingham 2022 is looking for an experienced Athletes Village Special Projects Manager to join the Athletes Village team. The Village Special Projects Manager will manage multiple project teams within the Village Operations (VIL) Functional Area (FA), including Village Allotment and Village Arrivals and Departures. The Village Special Projects Manager will also manage other Village projects as they arise such as planning of the Welcome Centre, Village Contingency Facilities and COVID-19 quarantine.

The ideal candidate will have a background in event or project management, or have experience within the hotel reservation and accommodation sector. If you are a highly organised and detail orientated individual with an ability to recruit and lead paid and/or volunteer workforces, this could be the role for you.

Responsibilities

Village Allotment

  • Lead the continuation of Village allotment planning and development through to final operation.
  • Recruit and train the Allotment team with ongoing mentoring and development.
  • Develop allotment operational plans and manage the allotment data.
  • Oversee the delegation of Commonwealth Games Association (CGA) accommodation and operational spaces across all Villages.
  • Gain detailed knowledge of the Commonwealth Games Village (CGV) layouts to be able to determine best utilisation of space allotment.

Village Arrivals

  • Lead the continuation of village arrivals and departure planning and development through to final operation.
  • Develop arrival and departure operational plans.

Other Projects

  • Lead the continuation of/commence operational planning through to the final operational and financial detail of other village sites.
  • Ensure adequate provision is made for each service provision, including but not limited to COVID-19 testing, Security, Accreditation, Arrivals and Departures, Transport and Licensing.
  • Liaise with the venue to coordinate Security and Cleaning, Catering and Waste provision.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Experience in the programme management of complex projects.
  • Excellent data manipulation skills.
  • Experience in event, venue or accommodation management.
  • Experience of providing excellent customer service at a high graded international hotel, resort or similar environment.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with key client groups and communicate to them coherently difficult decisions.

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum
Start Date: ASAP
Location: One Brindley Place, Birmingham (office-based)
