Birmingham 2022 is looking for two Accessibility Coordinators.

The Accessibility Functional Area (FA) is responsible for embedding accessibility best practice across the Games. The Accessibility Coordinators will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and delivery of accessibility tasks and projects in the lead up to and during the Games.

The successful candidates will understand the importance of ensuring a truly accessible Games. The role requires excellent planning skills, attention to detail and an ability to effectively work with a wide variety of individuals and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • To be part of creating 'A Games for Everyone' - working as part of the Accessibility Team to achieve the objectives set in the Organising Committees Accessibility and Inclusion Commitment.
  • Engagement with the Organising Committees Functional Areas to ensure Accessibility is embedded within all Games planning as well as delivery assurance and support for issue resolution.
  • Developing innovative ideas for Accessibility which add value and bettering best practice, wherever possible to achieve our public commitments.
  • Working with others to ensure the effective delivery of Accessible facilities and services both pre-Games and at Games time.
  • Responsibility for helping to provide high quality access provision to all client groups for the Commonwealth Games.
  • Leading on specific Accessibility projects and tasks. For example, dedicated to projects such as Athlete Villages or Competition Venue Clusters.
  • Assist with the running of the Accessibility Advisory Forum as required.
  • Work with charities and organisations across Birmingham and the wider region to develop networks and raise awareness of Accessibility initiatives which can be continued in legacy.
  • Be a key point of contact for Accessibility enquiries from our contact centre and volunteer process.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to build good working relationships with multiple teams across the Organising Committee.
  • Able to provide quality work which is fit for purpose and to deadlines.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • A good working knowledge and understanding of Accessibility.
  • Experience of Accessibility at events.
